Best 24 Inch Monitor 2016 – 2017

The best 24 inch monitor is perhaps the most sought after size. Why? Simply because they are the most practical size option for many. It also happens to be the most sought after size for dual or triple monitor setup. It is neither too big nor too small.

22 inch and 27-inch monitors are great but not the most comfortable options. 27 inch monitors are big, and you will need to have a significant distance in order to use them comfortably; whereas, the 22 inch or smaller screens would make you sit closer to the screen to enjoy it thoroughly.

Almost all of the 24 inch monitor with thin bezels offer FHD resolution along with two common options for the panel types: IPS and TN. Although TN panels are slowly getting obsolete for average monitors, they are still the go-to choice for Gamers. VA panels are also offered in this size, which are the combination of IPS and TN panels, but they are rare.

24-inch monitors are either found in 16:10 or 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. With the 16:9 aspect ratio you get 1920×1080 resolution, whereas, with 16:10 aspect ratio you get 1920×1200 resolution. This is an 11% increase in screen real estate as compared to normal FHD.

Should You Consider 27 Inch Monitors?

27-inch monitors is another great category of monitors to go for. In fact, we usually recommend 27-inch monitors for resolutions that are above FHD. 27 inch monitors are more expensive and feature rich as compared to 24 inch monitors. However, at the same time, the price range spread between the cheapest and the high end is quite large.

These monitor are excellent for hardcore gaming, professional work as well as for multitasking (again this depends on the feature you opt for).

It has exquisite visual quality, matched only by the large array of features and connectivity options that it comes loaded with. Unlike the Dell UltraSharp U2415, this is not a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor.

Instead, it offers an average FHD resolution on a superior quality IPS panel. The best thing about visuals of this monitor is that it comes factory calibrated. Most of us don’t invest much time in setting the proper colors through OSD menu. Therefore, the fact that you won’t need to bother with that is just a bonus.

One of the biggest attraction of this monitor is that it has a wireless charging stand. Since all of the latest flagship mobile phones already come equipped with this functionality, this feature will help you.

The gamer among or inside you would be quick to notice that the refresh rate on this monitor is only 8 ms. Yes, that could be undesirable to some Gamers; however, most won’t see the difference thanks to the excellent and high-quality panel utilized. The visuals will easily compensate.

The previous series of AOC monitors were great with the frameless designs, but they lacked a few functionalities. This monitor improves on that. At the same time, it offers a beautiful overall look to it. It is safe to say this is one of the most affordable best 24 inch monitor on the market that also has amazing style.

It has adequate features such as an IPS panel, 5 ms response time and good connectivity options. However, the biggest attraction is the price point. Take note that the IPS panel on this monitor is not of the same quality as the one featured in the Dell UltraSharp U2417HJ above.

It may not have the best of the visual details; it can safely be considered on par with most conventional monitors. The frameless design and the rest of feature just add further to the value.

What Should You Look For In a Best 24 inch Monitor?

There are five important things to consider, Design, Features, Visuals, Connectivity and Cost.

Design

The Design has never been so important with monitors before. With the slim bezel monitors, the design of the monitor takes center stage. Since these monitors aim to be the center of attraction in your living room, they need to be compared and scored in terms of their aesthetics, style and form factor.

Features

Feature is an essential criterion not just for these kinds of monitors but for all monitors in general. Here you look for the resolution, response time, refresh rate, panel type, color gamut, etc.

Visuals

Visuals can never be understated. What is the point of having a monitor that has great features and design but lacks good visuals? Here the difference between cheap and premium panels comes into play. Are the images sharp, how are the colors, are the blacks deep? This is what this criterion entails.

Connectivity

Connectivity is a very variable aspect. Some people like to have them all, while others are happy if the monitor just offers one compatible port. As a general rule, you should look for HDMI, DVI-D, VGA and Display Ports. USB HUB is also sometimes a requirement for many.

Cost

Cost is what it all boils down to. Cost entails the value for money the monitor offers. If the monitor has average features, visuals, and designs but the excellent price tag, then it can trump almost all of the shortfalls and drawbacks of the monitor.

Should You Consider 23 Inch Monitors?

Definitely. Sometimes you can get fantastic deals on 23-inch monitors. In reality, there isn’t a huge different between the two sizes. They both have almost the same features. The only difference is in the price range. 23-inch monitors are slightly less expensive than the 24-inch monitors.

TN vs IPS; the Battle Continues

If you are struggling to decide which panel to go for, well let me first tell you that you are not the only one. Also let me tell you here, just to confuse you even more, that there is a third type of panel called the VA panel. This panel is also offered in best 24 inch monitor. This is something that lies in between TN and IPS panel in terms of performance. BenQ VZ Series VZ2470H offers this panel.

In Plane Switching (IPS – also known as ‘Super TFT’) technology was developed by Hitachi in 1996 to try and solve the two main limitations of TN Film matrices at the time, those being small viewing angles and low-quality color reproduction. – Simon Baker – TFTCentral.com

Anyways, what is the difference between the TN and IPS panel and who should buy what? TN panels are older and most famous type of panels. They use to be cheaper than IPS panel, but these days, they are just as expensive. They are slowly becoming obsolete in the budget monitor market; however, they still have a strong presence and will continue to have so in the premium gaming market. Premium TN panels offer fast response times and offer higher refresh rates.

IPS panels have more vivid colors and much wider viewing angles than the TN panels. They have super color gamuts and can be seen in professional working environments. Graphics designers, CAD workers, and photographer, make use of premium IPS panels. They have slower response times. They don’t easily offer higher refresh rates, but that will change slowly.

A few years back I would have told you to go for TN panel because they are cheaper.  The IPS technology also wasn’t too mature. However, these days, I would say IPS panels for sure, unless, if you are a Gamer. With the current state of IPS technology, TN panels are still reigning in the gaming monitor market.

The best 24-inch monitor comes in both TN and IPS panel. However, the recommended panel type to go for these days is the IPS panel.

Conclusion

24 inch is perhaps the most sought after size for almost every form of activity. Be it casual use, gaming or professional use, 24 inch is the go to size.

Best 24-inch monitor is not easy to find simply because there is such a huge selection. The easier way to sort this out is first to look for the latest in the market. Then must read the customer reviews and then, in the end, you can read the professional review to sort out which one is the best. Of course, you must first decide on the budget to make the filtering process even simpler.

That what we have done in this article. We hope that you found what you were looking.
